WISHING YOU A VERY BEAUTIFUL WEDNESDAY MY DEAR FRIEND!
    SMILE,
    SENDING MANY WOLF  HOWLS!

"To look into the eyes of a wolf is to see your soul.
Just be sure something you want to view is there."

"Perhaps it was the eyes of the wolf, measured, calm, knowing.
Perhaps it was the intense sense of family.
After all, wolves mate for life, are loyal partners, create hunting communities
and demonstrate affectionate patience in pup rearing.
Perhaps it was the rigid heirarchy of the packs.
Each wolf had a place in the whole and yet retained his individual personality.
Perhaps it was their great, romping, ridiculous sense of fun.
Perhaps it was some celestial link with the winter night skies
that prompted the wolf to lay his song on the icy air.
For the native people who lived with the wolves,
and the wolves once ranged from the Arctic to the sub-tropics,
there was much to learn from them.
Is it any wonder that the myths of many tribes characterise the wolves
not as killers but as teachers?"

    ---Roman mythology---

According to the Roman tradition, a wolf was responsible for the childhood survival of the future founders of Rome, romulus and Remus. The twin babies were ordered to be killed by their great uncle Amulius. The servant ordered to kill them, however, relented and placed the two on the banks of the Tiber river. The river, which was in flood, rose and gently carried the cradle and the twins downstream, where under the protection of the river deity Tiberinus, they would be adopted by a she-wolf known as Lupa in latin, an animal sacred to Mars.

He stands alone at the top of the hill
    And sings his mournful cry,
His mate and cubs are missing
He's not certain why.He had been out hunting
Was gone for only a day,
And hurried back with empty jaws
So scarce now was their prey.He wasn't gone long
    Eager to get home,
But the den was cold and empty
And he sensed something was wrong. The smell of man was everywhere
    With footprints in the dirt,
And blood shed from his family
He knew they had been hurt.He sat and waited day by day
    With hopes they would return,
There wasn't much he could do
Except quietly sit and yearn. Why would man come all this way
To hunt and shoot them down,
    To interrupt their quiet lives
When no harm had been done?Their territory plainly marked
And not once did they stray,
For they would rather starve to death
Than to get in man's way.The smell of chickens, cows and sheep
    Were so tempting at times,
But instincts warned not to hunt them
Or they would lose their lives. And so they lived a quiet life
    Existing on small game,
    Careful it was only wildlife
And nothing man had tamed. So he could find no reason
For the blood shed on that day,
    So peacefully they lived here
So far out of man's way.Maybe they'd be coming back
    His cubbies and his mate,
Wolves are mated once for life
So he would sit and wait. That was many moons ago
And they have not come back,
But he will not stop hoping
For the reunion of his pack.He now knows men are murderers
But still does not know why,
And every night he climbs his hill
    And sings his mournful cry.

PLEASE HAVE A VERY GREAT MONDAY DEAR FRIEND!

I call to those who went before me for guidance to travel this days path I ask those who are yet to come what this holds for me Of Wolf and Man is what I seek I ask for the Wolf to be at one with the Man and for the Man to walk beside the Wolf I offer this prayer to the Spirits above and humbly ask for their divine help to live my life to the fullest and bring honor to myself and my people.

Give us hearts to understand;  Never to take from creation's beauty more than we give;never to destroy want only for the furtherance of greed;Never to deny to give our hands for the building of earth's beauty;never to take from her what we cannot use.Give us hearts to understand That to destroy earth's music is to create confusion;that to wreck her appearance is to blind us to beauty; That to callously pollute her fragrance is to make a house of stench;that as we care for her she will care for us.We have forgotten who we are.We have sought only our own security. We have exploited simply for our own ends.We have distorted our knowledge. We have abused our power.Great Spirit, whose dry lands thirst,Help us to find the way to refresh your lands.Great Spirit, whose waters are choked with debris and pollution, help us to find the way to cleanse your waters. Great Spirit, whose beautiful earth grows ugly with misuse, help us to find the way to restore beauty to your handiwork.Great Spirit, whose creatures are being destroyed, help us to find a way to replenish them.Great Spirit, whose gifts to us are being lost in selfishness and corruption, help us to find the way to restore our humanity.Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind, whose breath gives life to the world, hear me;I need your strength and wisdom.May I walk in Beauty.

During the middle ages, wolves were ascribed magical powers and wolf parts became an important part of many early pharmacies. Powdered wolf liver was used to ease birth pains. A wolf's right paw, tied around ones throat, was believed to ease the swelling caused by throat infections. It was widely believed that a horse that stepped in a wolf print would be crippled The gaze of a wolf was once thought to cause blindness Others believed that the breath of the wolf could cook meat.Naturalists of the day believed wolves sharpened their teeth before hunting Dead wolves were buried at a village entrance to keep out other wolves (a bizarre belief echoed today by farmers who continue to shoot predators and hang them on fence posts to repel other predators.)Travelers were warned about perils of walking through lonely stretches of woods, and stone shelters were built to protect them from attacks. Our modern word "loophole" is derived from the European term "loup hole," or wolf hole, a spy hole in shelters through which travelers could watch for wolves.

In Greek mythology, Charon, the ferryman, wore wolf ears. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, the goddess Ishtar had the power to turn enemies into wolves. Hecate, the goddess of Death, was shown as wearing three wolf heads. In another Greek myth, a king named Lycaon was turned into a wolf by the god Zeus. (the name Lycaon survives today, in the gray wolf subspecies Canis Lupius Lycoan, the eastern timber wolf.) The Athenians had great respect for the wolf and decreed that any man who killed one had to pay for the funeral for the animal.

The air carried a stillness, a gentle reminder of the wounds which his mate now tended too. The green eyes quietly closing with every loving touch, the wounds of past and past lives forgotten a bout in the quiet folds of the snow and the fading sun. His eyes scanned, almost lost in the moments when she would nurture him back to health, fixating on some unknown quality which evaded every other living soul. In the hunts, she ran with him; a quiet thunder padded out on the soft folds of early snow.In the pack there were only 2, him and his mate. Her beautiful grey coat was bushy, her eyes always locked on him as he left to get food or snarled innocently to avoid confrontation. His black coat was never hard to miss, the imprint of love and faithfulness written all over his smile. As the winter subsided, she could hear his heartbeat , calling out beyond the love they had. In the approaching sun she knew that his time would be coming soon, that the bonds of trust would transcend into heavens shadows and she would be alone. As he kissed and said good bye to her, her tail cowered ,left without a reason to cry as he left one last time. The night called with a warning, the crows melancholy voices screeching of death and shadows...after midnight the wolf came home, his spirit rested and laid beside his mate, unaware of the dream of living which had passed him by.

I will follow in the foot steps of the chose one.
As the howls of life poor from his mouth.
The growls of revenge sound shallow in his throat.
He has chosen me to walk beside him.
I will walk beside HIM, the chosen, my soulmate.
Though the century as I am reborn to stand by his side from life too life
    till the end of time.
Too accompany him though the ages is my destiny.
I do not fight my destiny I embrace it

Pups are born completely blind and deaf (but have a keen sense if smell), depending on the their mother and other members of the pack. The whole pack takes care and raises the pups (non-breeding females produce milk and males compete to baby sit).

Usually four to six pups are born together. This is called a litter, and the pups in a litter are called litter mates. Pups are born inside a den. A den is sometimes a small cave or a hole dug out of the ground.
The den must be big enough for the mother and her pups. It shelters them from the weather and protects the pups from other animals that may want to hurt them. Packs sometimes use the same den year after year. At other times, they make or find a new den each year.
Wolf pups at this age may be preyed upon by Golden Eagles, Bear can also prey on young pups. There are several records of a number of adult wolves decoying bears away from their pups' den until they left.

I hope your day dear friend has been AWESOME!
MAY YOUR NIGHT BE BEAUTIFUL AND BRIGHT,
MAY THE STARS IN THE HEAVENS SHINE DOWN UPON YOU WITH ALL THERE GLORY AND THE GREAT WOLF SPIRIT SURROUND YOU WITH MUCH LOVE AND PEACE AND WALK BESIDE YOU ALWAYS.

Ever so piercing Looking for prey,
    Trudging through snow
    On a cold winter day.
    What belies behind
    Those mystical eyes
    When he comes upon
    The prey he spies?
    Basic Instinct
    Survival is a must,
    He licks his lips
    His prey he lusts.
    With swift cunning
    He lunges and leaps,
    His prey has befallen
Beneath his feet. This is the wild
    In this beautiful creature,
    Teaches to his young
    He becomes the teacher.
    To many, a pet
    He has become,
    But dangerous still he
    To most anyone.Behind those eyes
    Lies many a tale,
    The mystery behind them
    Is without fail.
    So sleek and beautiful
    A creature as he,
    Yet gentle and aloof
As he can be.Understand the wolf
    He's just trying to survive,
    Let's respect the beauty
    By keeping him alive.
    They'll be extinct
    If we don't understand,
    The mystery of the eyes
    Can be gentle to man.

    We yield to our neighbors,
    even our animal neighbors
    the same right as ourselves,
    to Inhabit this land.

    Sitting Bull

From within the warm, secure den, I watch Father, his coat thick and white as the snow under his paws, disappears into the deep woods beyond for the night's hunt.I whine in disappointment of not being able to hunt with them because I'm still young."Very soon," begins my older brother sitting beside me, "you'll be out there leading the pack just like him and mother."I know this is true but it seems so far away when I think about it.My sister nuzzles me with her stout nose to play a game with her.My brother is amused and tells me to not think of hunting, but to live and enjoy my precious moments as a pup."You'll be a grown wolf soon enough," he says.Feeling a twitch of hope within my heart, I race after my sister and over the cold, powdery face of Mother Earth.I tumble and roll within the flying flakes of Mother Earth's hair so white and clean, knowing that I will someday be a leader, a hunter, and a father of a pack all my own.

HAVE A VERY BEAUTIFUL DAY MY DEAR FRIEND!

Wolves will defend there territory, they work as a pack to harass larger animals like bears, although a pack of 12 were once known to kill a grizzly bear, most times if the animal runs away the wolves will not attack.Animals the wolf may come in contact with are:Coyotes - They will avoid wolves most times. but when encounters occur they are aggressive.Grizzly bears - Are known to eat wolf pups, wolves will chase away bears from the den area.Cougars - Although rare in nature, the cougar being a lone hunter is at a disadvantage in a fight with a wolf pack.Foxes - Foxes have been observed stealing from wolf kills, wolves have been know to steal fox dens, wolves have been known to kill foxes, though it is rare, more often than not they ignore these tiny predators, the exceptions is in the arctic region where wolves will usually kill a fox on sight.Ravens - One of the most fascinating relationships between animals is the one that seems to exist between wolves and raven. The raven, scavenger of food of all types, will often follow wolf packs in hopes of morsels of food. and wolves have learned to watch for circling ravens as a sign of possible food below.Dogs - Although wolves are physiologically capable of breeding with dogs, such crossed usually happen in captive situations, trappers tales of wild wolves mating with dogs is usually a campfire myth. Most encounters between wild wolves and dogs are aggressive in nature, it is only natural a dog would be a trespasser in a wolf's territory, small yapping dogs may be attacked as nuisances.

Wolves have a very good sense of smellResearch shows wolves have been able to detect their pray at distances of up to 1.75 miles (3 kilometers), which they also use to communicate. Wolves mark their territory with urine and faeces. This is called scent marking. When "outside" wolves smell this, they know that an area is already occupied. Of course, their sense of smell also tells them when food or enemies are near.

Wolves howl for several reasons. Howling helps pack members keep in touch, allowing them to effectively communicate in thickly forested areas or over great distances. Furthermore, howling helps to summon pack members to a specific location. Howling can also serve as a declaration of territory, as portrayed by a dominant wolf's tendency to respond to a human imitation of a "rival" individual in an area that the wolf considers its own. This behavior is also stimulated when a pack has something to protect, such as a fresh kill. As a rule of thumb, large packs will more readily draw attention to themselves than will smaller packs. Adjacent packs may respond to each others' howls, which can mean trouble for the smaller of the two. Thus, wolves tend to howl with great care.Wolves will also howl for communal reasons. Some scientists speculate that such group sessions strengthen the wolves' social bonds and camaraderie -- similar to community singing among humans. During such choral sessions, wolves will howl at different tones and varying pitches, which tends to prevent a listener from accurately estimating the number of wolves involved. This concealment of numbers makes a listening rival pack wary of what action to take. For example, confrontation could mean bad news if the rival pack gravely underestimates the howling pack's numbers.Observations of wolf packs suggest that howling occurs most often during the twilight hours, preceding the adults' departure to the hunt and following their return. Studies also show that wolves howl more frequently during the breeding season and subsequent rearing process. The pups themselves begin howling towards the end of July, and can be provoked into howling sessions relatively easily over the following two months. Such indiscriminate howling usually has a communicative intent, and has no adverse consequences so early in a wolf's life. Howling becomes less indiscriminate as wolves learn to distinguish howling pack members from rival wolves.

"How lonely is the night without the howl of a wolf."

Oh, what a beautiful thing…the love of two beings. I always think of love as if it were something alive, as if it were a mistress itself. But I never could have known something like this. As I hold my love, a gorgeous maiden, I see the true world in her. I see the innocence and natural ways of the wolves in her golden eyes and I feel the warmth from her body that not even a thousand human lovers could create. Her warm lips met mine in a long kiss that sent comfortable shivers down my spine and raised the hairs of my body to stand. We held each other close and felt our hearts beat at a rising pace as we changed. Fur grew from us; a silver coat like pure moonlight from her skin and a brown coat as dark as the earth from mine. Our kiss ended slowly and we stared into each other’s eyes. Hers, two golden pools of pure innocence and female curiosity, shined by some unknown light. Then, releasing my hold on her, we removed ourselves from our human clothing. What once was man and woman, was now two wolves. We stood on our hind legs and held each other again, only now I felt the silk of her fur against mine. So much heat…so much fire from within us that could melt arctic snows but instead warmed us. A fire like a roaring blaze in the most beautifully crafted of fireplaces; those adorned with paintings that held the purest colors, chosen only by the most inspired of artists. And that same beauty became an aura over us. We let ourselves fall into another kiss that lasted, it seemed, to the end of time. I allowed my hands to wonder across her body; my fingers running through her fur with a light touch. She let out a low purr as I moved my mouth to her neck and let the wolf’s lips continue in their natural way. She then nudged me with her muzzle and pushed me back from her neck to stare at me.Our glance was strong…un-breakable between us. I began to feel that not even the strongest of warriors could take me away from this moment, no power or force could ever hope to end this love that we, two wolves of ancient origin in spirit, shared with each other. And as I laid her down, my wondrous love, I saw, not a mate as in many bonds of animal intimacy, but I saw a lover. I saw a woman…and a wolf…who would die for me as I would for them, and would always be there to listen and talk with me for as many years as life would allow. And it is now, in this very moment that we feel the true power of love and a passion that no human could ever understand. We are bonded together in this endless night, beneath the moon and stars that shine upon us…we two who know the feeling and meaning of wolf love. And it is in this feeling we shall forever rest, on this passion we shall forever thrive. I know in my heart we were meant to be, and we shall always remain as we are. We are lovers and friends…and as I see her smile…I realize that I have never been happier.
