ULTRAGORE #008: HELICOPTER SHOWDOWN—THE WRESTLER EP
The San Francisco Bay has been traditionally known as a hotbed of underground sounds by those
fortunate enough to know where to look. For a time, the East Bay hyphy movement had kids
from Santa Rosa to Salinas ghost ridin’ the whip, and for years the underground warehouses
and speak-easys of The City have been owned by the warm thump of quality house music.
More recently though, dubstep has been creating a foothold on the Golden Gate, with a slew of
emerging artists carving out a space in the underground music scene both locally and nationally.
New kid on the block to SFO bass music, Helicopter Showdown is set to take the dubstep world
by storm with their blistering production style and heavy sound. Comprised of area producers
Blake Powers, Joshua Small, Devan Day, Ryan Wade, the foursome has their eyes set on bass
music domination with their tracks getting support from BARE, Mark Instinct, Vaski, JOGO,
Liquid Stranger, and Point.blank.
On their debut EP, The Wrestler, the foursome releases their night terrors inducing sound on the
world with a fearsome five-pack not for the faint of heart.
On the title track, The Showdown joins Sluggo for a big slice of epic rave tear-out, sure to keep
heads high and hands up. With Life On The Edge, HS takes things up a notch with a plodding
stepper heavy on the murder bass low end.
Digital blood-lust takes center stage on The Terror, as a slew of arpeggiated wind-ups and
slow-downs keep ‘em guessing. Belgian duo Point.blank take remix duties on The Terror
(Point.blank Remix) with murderous results, and to round out the EP, HS throws an audio curve
ball on Push Forward. Blending serene ambience and a squelching low end, they create what is
easily the most diverse track on the EP.
Heavy on bass with a style all their own, Helicopter Showdown show and prove with The
Wrestler EP.

Ps - If you don't want us telling you about new Future liquid Drum n Bass... defriend plz.
Peace.
Stepping Forward's second 4-track EP comes to the label from the UK's own ACTRAISER. Formerly a Drum n Bass genera manager @ Chemical Records and known currently in Dubstep for his immensely deep tracks - we're proud to bring the man back into the Drum n Bass world with his STUNNING "Platinum Rush EP"!

The EPs title cut Platinum Rush is perfection. It’s steppy but moving, lush but defined and sparkling with details, amazingly bass heavy but filled with a full range of sonics not normally found in Drum n Bass's MAXIMUM VOLUME IS ALL THAT MATTERS glut of me-too tracks. And while Platinum Rush is the go to track for Dancefloor DJs, the next 3 songs are no less stunning - presenting such a mastery of Drum n Bass production it sets you in your place and forces you to learn something. Layers and layers of classic breaks perfectly edited and subdued into a mixture of synth washes, EFX and pristinely programmed percussion that wraps themselves around complex sonic patchworks of emotion and desire. There are so few standout EPs like this and ACTRAISER will be remembered for his work here for a long, LONG time to come. This a benchmark folks, consider the bar raised!

Arguably Stepping Forward's strongest single release to date; Motta, Champagne, MSDOS & State Logic ALL come 'cross with stunning work in the form of "The Need In Me / Maiko". Both of these songs are A-cut level material and making the rounds with all the major players in the world of Liquid right now. MSDOS and Motta's material is being bigged up by the one and only LTJ Bukem in nearly ever set he plays these days.

It’s a family affair as Ultragore Recordings returns with its second single, a two-pack of collabos

between Sluggo and a couple other heavy hitters from the Ultragore family. After the success of
the all out rage-fest that was I Get Violent, Sluggo and company show a deeper, more melodic
side of Ultragore with Power Glove. ( click here to preview)
On the lead single, Sluggo teams up with UK vet Kirkus. After a string of strong releases with
Dirty Circus, Stupid Fly, Execu7ion, Bass Punch, and BroTown, Kirkus seems to have met his
match in Sluggo. While both still have a taste for murder bass and heavy whomp, Power Glove
has the two venturing into new territory with surprising results.
In another collaboration tour de force, Sluggo and Kirkus team up with label boss Lank for
a chuggy stepper on We Kill Everything. Once again, Sluggo and Kirkus open up with some
airy synth notes, quickly deteriorating into some chopped up squelch going into the drop. A
deep, heavy bass line chugs along at a healthy clip, with some 8-bit highlights and heavy bass
injections along the way to keep things interesting. Despite its title, We Kill shows that the
monster inside of Ultragore isn’t all blood-thirst and terror—apparently there’s a brain inside the
beast.
Ps - If you don't want us sending you new dubstep Stormers... defriend plz.
If you like being on top of nastiest though get ready for the next
release! UltraGore Recordings presents Sluggo and Bare"Shy Guy"!
hot neuro drum and bass coming your direction!
