El tema "Golpe bajo al corazon" de la autoría de Albert & Ricardo Gaitan y Yoel Enrique y arreglada por Carlos Martínez, que toco con Johnny en los primeros años de los 90, cuando sólo tenía 17 años de edad. Hoy Carlos Martínez es muy respetado como un joven arreglista bajista y pianista, Que ha llevado a cabo el sonido original de Johnny en esta nueva producción. Otros arreglistas en esta producción incluyen, Ramón Sánchez, Cuto Soto, Humberto Ramírez, Luis Perico Ortiz, Tommy Villariny. Johnny Rivera es nativo de Nueva York, nació y se crió en el South Bronx. Después de graduarse de la escuela secundaria, Rivera se trasladó a Puerto Rico donde comenzó a cantar con unos grupos locales. Inspirado por su tío, Adalberto Santiago, Rivera comenzó a mostrar un fuerte deseo de prosperar como un cantante latino y aprender todos los aspectos del sonido de la salsa. Poco después de su llegada a la isla, Johnny regresó a Nueva York y comenzó a trabajar con la banda del taller de Johnny Colón en el East Harlem, Escuela de Música. Continuó sus estudios para mejorar su técnica de canto y en poco tiempo, el cantante se unió con su tío Adalberto Santiago y La Orquesta. Una vez que contaba con el respaldo de la banda, Johnny Rivera mostró su talento creativo con su primer álbum, Noche Caliente, vol. II. En 1980, Johnny Rivera se le ofreció la oportunidad de grabar con varias bandas latinas que lo puso en el radar de la industria musical, incluyendo una banda de jóvenes, Grupo Fascinación. Durante los cuatro años Rivera trabajó con el Grupo Fascinación, grabó tres discos adicionales. Más tarde, Rivera también recibió la oportunidad de unirse al Conjunto Clásico destacándose como cantante de la banda. Grabó dos discos con el Conjunto Clásico, antes de partir a su carrera en como solista. Grabo su primer álbum ,Ahora de verdad,en su debut como solista, Rivera se mantuvo entre Puerto Rico y Nueva York. El álbum, producido y arreglado por Sergio George, éxito de Frankie Valli, "My Eyes Adored You" en Inglés, la canción "Necesito Una Amiga", además de las versiones populares de la salsa "Esa Chica Es Mía" y "Como Fui A Enamorarme de ti ". El cantante de salsa ya había registrado su segundo álbum, titulado Encuentro casual. El primer sencillo de este álbum, "Te Regalare," se convirtió en un éxito en su lanzamiento. En 1993, Johnny Rivera grabó su tercer álbum, Cuando Parara La Lluvia, que contó con tres singles de éxito, "Cuando Parara La Lluvia", "Por Eso esta conmigo" y "Voy a Conquistar Tu Amor". Cuando Parara La Lluvia ganó elogios de platino poco después de su lanzamiento y tuvo un impacto en todo el mundo. Rivera hizo un nombre por sí mismo en el Madison Square Garden de Nueva York, Durante su permanencia en el sello musical RMM del ya fallecido Ralph Mercado, Johnny Rivera tuvo la oportunidad de pertenecer a otro de los conglomerados de estrellas musicales más importantes de todos los tiempos, Las estrellas RMM de la salsa o la también reconocida Combinación Perfecta, donde junto al salsero Ray Sepúlveda se hizo acreedor a múltiples Discos de Oro y Platino por ventas en los Estados Unidos y América Latina, incluyendo el Caribe por el éxito mundial titulado 'No vale la pena'. Para el año de 1994 Johnny recibió el premio Paoli por álbum del año y el premio Diplo por Orquesta revelación del año. Johnny se ha presentado en los escenarios más importantes del mundo como en el Madison Square Garden de New York y es uno de los artistas de salsa con mayor reconocimiento mundial que ha viajado con su música y su carisma por ciudades de todo el mundo como, Cali, Bogotá, Medellín, Caracas, Lima, Quito, Guayaquil, Ciudad de Panamá, Guadalajara, San José, París, Madrid, Barcelona, Londres, Los Ángeles, Miami, New York, entre muchas más, gozando siempre de gran aceptación y popularidad. En los últimos anos Johnny Rivera ha compartido escenario con sus colegas del ambiente como Tito Nieves, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Víctor Manuelle, Jerry Rivera, Tony Vega, Ray Sepúlveda, Rey Ruiz, Adalberto Santiago, José Alberto El Canario, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, El Conjunto Clásico, La Puerto Rican Power, El Grupo Galé y La Combinación Perfecta, entre otros. Ahora Johnny Rivera, una leyenda de la salsa espera superar el éxito de sus esfuerzos musicales anteriores.     Maestro tuve la oportunidad de asistir a la clínica de percusión LP que usted realizó en la ciudad de Medellín en Julio de 2011 y quedé sorprendido con su inmenso talento para interpretar los instrumentos, pero más que eso, con su gran calidad humana y sencillez; aún recuerdo mucho su frase: "No soy una estrella, las estrellas están en el cielo". Gracias Maestro por compartir con nosotros sus conocimientos y experiencias vivídas. Lo esperamos en Medellín nuevamente para seguir aprendiendo de ese excelente músico y esa excelente persona como lo es usted. Una vez más GRACIAS!!!
