Kathy began singing at the early age of 4. She mounted a tall chair and stood in front of a microphone to sing her first solo “I Made a Vow to the Lord”. From that day to now, Kathy vowed her life to the Lord in song. She was featured in her first concert at 8 years old in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The people were amazed at her talent, skill and ability. She was later flown to Los Angeles to sing at the West Adams Foursquare Church. The audience was baffled as the melody of Gospel Music rang out from her little mouth. At 10 years of age she appeared as a guest soloist at the State Convention of the Southern California Jurisdiction of the Churches of God In Christ.
Kathy traveled extensively with her father, the late Bishop David L. Austin accompanying him to sing at various church conventions and revivals. She participated in numerous school talent shows and competitions. At age 16 she was featured on the album “A Star Is Born”, under the direction of the late Mattie Moss dark at the National Youth Congress held in Los Angeles. She was the 4th runner up in the Miss Compton Beauty Pageant, Miss America Pageant and received the “Best Talent” award.
Kathy was a lead vocalist of the San Diego University Gospel Choir and the Voices of Fulfillment Community Choir of San Diego. She was also the lead vocalist of an award winning performance in the McDonald’s Gospel Fest and a background singer with a number of gospel groups and choirs.
Kathy Copeland has been the Praise and Worship leader at Kingdom Life Church of Hayward since 1993 and has been a special guest palmist and soloist at various women’s conference and retreats across the United States. She is clear as to what her purpose is in life that is to restore Praise and Worship back to its proper place in the Body of Christ.
