ENGLISH:.. Marco Panascia (pana-SEE-ah) is an Italian-born bassist, composer and educator, who resides in New York City. His proficiency in many different musical situations and settings, and his strong doubling skills on the acoustic and the electric basses have earned him wholehearted praise in the United States, Europe and Japan. Panascia has made a name for himself by being featured in the working bands of several jazz luminaries, such as Kenny Barron, Andy Bey, Eric Reed and Dado Moroni, and by regularly appearing in some of the world's top music festivals and venues, such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Hollywood Bowl and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Panascia is also known for his tenure with young jazz piano sensation Eldar, which delivered sold-out performances in three continents, and culminated in two celebrated CD releases on the Sony BMG Masterworks label: "Live at the Blue Note", and "re-imagination", which received a 2008 Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Jazz Album... Mentored by Los Angeles studio legend Carol Kaye, Panascia was the first prize winner of the 1998 Edinburgh International Double Bass competition in Scotland, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Music degree from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, as a full tuition scholarship recipient... Panascia's performance credits on acoustic and electric bass include some of the most highly regarded artists on the contemporary jazz scene and beyond, such as Herbie Hancock, Kenny Barron, Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano, Quincy Jones, Bobby McFerrin, Dave Liebman, Roy Hargrove, Chris Botti, Eric Reed, Dado Moroni, Gary Burton, Seamus Blake, Peter Erskine, Adam Nussbaum, Lewis Nash, Alvin Queen and Tamir Hendelman. Whenever he has time off from his hectic worldwide touring schedule, Panascia can be heard performing in some of New York's most celebrated venues, as a leader of his own trio and quintet, or as a sideman with several world-renowned musicians on the scene. Marco Panascìa è un contrabbassista, bassista elettrico, compositore e didatta di origini catanesi che risiede a New York da oltre dieci anni. Panascia e' noto a livello internazionale per avere fatto parte del trio guidato dal giovane pianista prodigio Eldar, con cui ha suonato in tre continenti, e registrato due CD per l'etichetta Sony BMG Masterworks ("Live at the Blue Note", e "re-imagination", che ha ricevuto una Grammy nomination nel 2008 come migliore album di jazz contemporaneo). Nel giro di cinque anni, consegue una laurea (summa cum laude) al Berklee College of Music di Boston, ed un master post-laurea alla Manhattan School of Music di New York, che gli conferisce una "full scholarship" (borsa di studio completa), grazie ai suoi meriti artistici e strumentali... Nel corso degli anni, Panascia ha costruito un curriculum di primissimo livello, suonando con la Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra, ed esibendosi, nella veste di orchestrale, bassista elettrico o contrabbassista jazz, con artisti di fama internazionale, quali Herbie Hancock, Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano, Quincy Jones, Bobby McFerrin, Dave Liebman, Roy Hargrove, Chris Botti, Gary Burton, Seamus Blake, Adam Nussbaum e Peter Erskine. Nei periodi di pausa dalla sua densa attivita' concertistica negli Stati Uniti e nel resto del mondo, Panascia si esibisce spesso, come leader o sideman, in molti dei prestigiosi clubs di New York, come il Blue Note, Birdland, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Jazz Standard, Smalls, Sweet Rhythm, Lenox Lounge e 55 Bar...
