If you want the truth, then we are two old gits that have trodden the boards for ages, flanked by two younger gits, that are great players but above all superb human beings!! The two of us that are old, are Bernie Fox ( DRUMS/BRAINS) and Steve Hampton ( me....GUITARS/VOCALS/VARIOUS NEFARIOUS INSTRUMENTS) ably abetted by Robbie Dwyer (GUITARS/VOCALS) and Mike Fowler (BASS/GUITAR/VOCALS) So that'll be enough about that then. If you like your music alternative and what it's meant to be for, then we may just be your kiddies. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .......... ..........The Old Boys Network - Live Recordings Current mood: breezy Category: Music As anyone who has caught them live will know, The Old Boys Network have a great set of songs and are hardly slouches as far as talent and skill is concerned either. What sets them apart most of all though is their enjoyment of every minute they're up on stage. Most bands will tell you they love performing, but these guys make it obvious, sharing laughs and knowing grins. Of course you can't see the grins when you're listening to an audio recording, but the sense of fun certainly shines through, from the rousing Bring The Curtains Down, preceded by the cheers of the audience, through a run of one great song after another, each interspersed with self deprecating humour and banter that makes the audience and the listener feel included, like listening to as group of mates joking with each other. The band show themselves as individuals, each personality adding to the musical whole. Steve Hampton singing with passion and laying down great guitar riffs, Robbie Dwyer adding yet more accomplished guitar to the mix interchanging lead and rhythm with Hampton as the songs ebb and flow, Bernie Fox thrashing away at the drums and the newest Old Boy, Mike Fowler on bass and backing vocals, locking in the rhythm like he'd been with the band from the beginning. There's not a dud here, but the highlight, for me, would be the excellent Fire And Ice, a great song on disc and one that truly comes alive with an audience. Influences
This is a really hard one! Try anything between 1940 and now. DONT count rap or any other group of singing, dancing fools ie "boy bands." discount rave, hip hop, trance and anything like it and you pretty much have it! Dont forget, these guys on the scale of it are really old and are seriously allowed to be GRUMPY!!!!!!!!!! anything played well, sounding good and in any vein is appreciated. NOT appreciated is bombastic, egotistical bullshit, gangster, gun, crap driven twaddle or God forbid, x factor type shit!!!! aaaaaah thats better, we feel so much better now. Seriously if it's GOOD we'll like it and somewhere along the line it has to influence us. Visit us at www.o-b-n.com, email us, tell us what you think, give us your input. we love interaction ok! ....My Space or Yours?.. Myspace Layouts and more at myspaceoryours.net!...... .......... .. -

This band produces music that meanders from lilting acoustic rhythms to all out, take no prisoners, vicious rock! intersperced with pop and blues. at the end of the day they sound like themselves. dont take our word for it! when the album " on the and of one " comes out this year, buy it and work it out for yourselves it'll be cheap enough mon petite pidgeons!!!!!!! ..Check this out, it's a cool map of everyone who visits this profile:................
