Hey September,
The summer has been a whirlwind and try as I might to remain in the
present, I slip easily in and out of reverie, immersed in a fading blend
of fond memories. I couldn't have asked for a better summer and I truly
hope you can say the same.
September is bittersweet for obvious reasons. It means the return to
school for a majority of our Owls and since we all know school isn't
always the most fun place to spend five days a week (though it is very
important), we're coming up with something to help you make it through
the week... and weekend for that matter. Stay tuned and check back
often.
TO THE SKY
I conjured up a new song entitled "
To The Sky" for upcoming Warner Brothers animated feature film "
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole,"
in theaters September 24. Working in film has always been an irrational
dream of mine and since having had the opportunity to do something like
this, I am utterly bereft of speech. The film is directed by Zack
Snyder (Watchmen, 300), animated by Animal Logic (creators of Happy
Feat) - and features "
To The Sky" as its title track. The song has been made available for download on iTunes
here
. The soundtrack will be available everywhere digitally and exclusively at Borders physically on September 21.
Stay tuned for more information on the premiere of a sneaky music video for "
To The Sky," including a performance by yours truly.
OWL CITY DISTRIBUTIONI used to load trucks for UPS on the nightshift in Minneapolis, MN.
Between wretched work weeks, I'd lock the basement door, dim the lights
and created music as not only a passion, but an escape. I stumbled upon a
service that allowed me to upload songs to be sold on iTunes and in
other online stores. I never thought I'd have the chance to share my
music with the world, but doing so has changed my life forever.
With the launch of
Owl City Distribution,
Owl City is partnering with TuneCore, the largest independent digital
distributor, to help you share your music with the world. For a limited
time, fans choosing to distribute through Owl City Distribution will be
eligible to take part in a special promotion. I will choose my favorite
release from all submissions and write a critique of that album.
Submissions must be received by December 1, 2010 so hurry on over to
Owl City Distribution to get started.
TOUR SANDWICHJapan + Australia + New Zealand = Tour Sandwich.
Tickets are still available for many of these shows, so
snatch them before it's too late!
I hope you are doing well. Whenever someone asks you if prefer the
work of Monet better than Manet, or visa versa, please remember never to
reply, "I like mayonnaise."
With all due respect,
Adam
