Formed in 2004 in Hamburg, Germany, Peilomat was a rock band that came together through contacts at the Academy of Music in the aforementioned port city.
In October of that year, Peilomat made their first live appearance at a small club in Cologne. The group then went on to win the German Rock Prize in the Junior Competition of the DRMV -- the German Rock & Pop Musician's Association in 2005, which allowed them to release a demo EP of five songs. Peilomat then went on to hone their skills on stage, sharing the bill with such names as Reamonn and Revolverheld, before releasing a top 100 debut single, "Grossstadtkinder" (Big City Kids), and a similarly titled debut album in 2007. They spent the rest of that year touring their home nation, before scoring a thirteenth place with the track "Jenny" in the German National Song Competition, as entrants from their state of the Rhineland. ~ Chris True
