Bio
..GOT ME GOING .. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. Magnum ..A native of Detroit, Michigan, Magnum was born on September 3, 1984 to Delisa and Robert Curry. At the age of two, his family moved to Augsburg, Germany. As a child, Magnum spent most of his time in the church, since his father was a pastor. He expanded his musical background by directing the choir and participating in various vocal competitions. .. .. ..When Magnum was 11, his parents got a divorce. This left him with the decision to either stay in Germany with his father, or go to Detroit with his mother and sister. He chose a new life in Detroit. The adjustment from life in Germany to the Detroit lifestyle was a drastic change for him. However, Magnum started to understand and adapt to life in Detroit. One of the skills Magnum took with him to Detroit was his love of music. Instead of the gospel and Christian music, Magnum became interested in the world of Hip Hop; something he had not experienced in Germany. It was official, he had now stepped into the world of Hip- Hop and R&B. .. .. ..It wasn't long before he found himself working with the legendary country singer, Kenny Rogers. With Kenny, he participated in an Annual Christmas concert, held in Detroit for two years. During a performance, a player from the Detroit Tigers thought Magnum should perform the National Anthem at the opening game of the Tiger's season. Magnum made history by being the youngest African American male to perform the National Anthem at the opening game of the season. .. .. ..Magnum was unstoppable. In 1998, at the age of 14, he starred in the theater play, “Crack in the Backstreet”, written by Kenneth Greenwood. At one of the shows, he received a flyer from a local Detroit rapper. It was an audition for a group that Mike Bivans of New Edition was putting together. Out of 3,000 people, Magnum and Atlantic recording artist, Rashad Morgan made the cut. They signed to Motown, and became The Biv 10 Pee Wee All Stars. .. ........ .. ..Their first single, “Dance with Me”, aired on BET, MTV, VH1, The Box, and was voted number one on The Zone. They appeared in major magazines such as: Sister 2 Sister, Vibe, and Right On. The group also started modeling for Pelle Pelle, and Da Da. After their first single was released, they signed to Universal Records. Their second single, “Feelin It”, was produced by Bilal of the hit group Transitions, which appeared on the motion picture soundtrack, “Our Friend Martin”. Over time, the group dismembered, but that didn't stop Magnum from reaching his goal. .. .. ..After the split of the group, Magnum found himself in a familiar spot when he started to perform in gospel plays. He starred in such plays as, “The Devil Made Me Do It”, “Which Way Did I Turn”, and, “Tell it to the Judge”, also staring: Judge Mathis, multi platinum recording artist, Ralf Tresvant of New Edition; Comic View's, Kenny Howl; and the legendary Grammy nominated Gospel singer, Derek Brinkly. .. .. ..As time progressed, Magnum picked up dancing. He taught Hip Hop dance classes at Grosse Pointe Dance Center, in Grosse Point, MI for about a year. Later, he became a background dancer for Karen Clark Sheard from the legendary Clark Sisters, multi-platinum recording artist, Kierra Sheard, and Lexi, who is signed to Holy Records. .. .. ..As Magnum got a taste of the high life, he felt it was his time to focus more on his singing career. Magnum and some of his friends formed the group, D.A.T. (Definition of a True Group). In 2002, they signed to Wyclef Jean's record label, which lead them to New Jersey. For 2 years they worked diligently on an album, but unfortunately the group broke up. While the rest of the group returned to Detroit, Magnum stayed and worked for Wyclef as a writer. This experience was a revelation for him. He realized that he needed his own album. Magnum moved back to Detroit and linked up with Sick Notes (the producers of the hit single, “How Come”, by Eminem and D-12). With the help of Sick Notes, and various producers, he finished his first solo album, “The Magnum Project”. .. .. ..After all the things he has been through and seen, he has become a better person, and an exceptional business man. He is more than prepared to do whatever God has in store for him. He knows that everything happens in season, and when his season comes.......you better take cover!!!!!!!!!!! .. .. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .......... ..........For Booking info on DAY26 email Screwface @ BOOKINGDAY26@STARSTRUCKMANAGEMENT.COM! .. .. ..JUNE BUG'S UPCOMING BOOK (RELEASE DATE WILL BE POSTED SHORTLY.) ..CHECK OUT THE FIRST THREE CHAPTERS ON MY MYSPACE PAGE. .. .. http://www.myspace.com/therealmrscurry ........ ........ -
