Described as a “sizzling violinist from Scotland” (Buffalo Times, NY) .. Seonaid Aitken .. not only stands out from the crowd as an extremely versatile violinist/fiddler (classical, folk, bluegrass, gypsy-jazz...) but, when you combine her “beautifully resonant singing” and accomplished skills on the piano, as a musical ‘triple threat’. Add to that her lifetime of experience in theatre and dance, and her ability to improvise, compose and arrange her own music, and it’s easy to see how Seonaid has become an established performer on a world-class level. .... Since graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she studied classical violin and piano, Seonaid has performed in more than 45 countries across the world. In 2008 she took her solo show to the seas onboard the luxury cruise lines .. Celebrity Cruises .. and .. Azamara Cruises .. after signing an exclusive contract with the Las Vegas-based entertainment agency .. Nite Raiders .., and in 2009 made her debut as a guest entertainer with .. Princess Cruises... Biography
Since graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she studied classical violin and piano, Seonaid has performed in more than 45 countries across the world. In 2008 she took her solo show to the seas onboard the luxury cruise lines Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises after signing an exclusive contract with the Las Vegas-based entertainment agency Nite Raiders , and in 2009 made her debut as a guest entertainer with Princess Cruises. Seonaid will continue to perform throughout 2011 as a headlining act.
In addition to her cruise ship performances, Seonaid has toured Internationally as the lead violinist/vocalist and keyboard player with the Canadian-based dancing violin show Barrage , performed as an Irish singer and fiddler at Tokyo DisneySEA , Japan, and completed a residency at Dixie's Dam Country Bar as a fiddler/singer in ‘The New Country Strings’ for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

Seonaid is also a very proud winner of a Danny Kyle Award for her open stage performance with her folk band 'The Seonaid Aitken Set' at Glasgow's 'Celtic Connections' festival. The band have also recently recorded their first EP entitled 'Furious Floyd EP' and the title track, written by Seonaid, can be heard on this page.
Seonaid's newest band, 'Rose Room', play gypsy swing jazz music reminiscent of Grappelli/Reinhardt and includes Glasgow's 'Swing Guitars' duo Tom Watson and Tam Gallacher with Jimmy Moon (of Moon Guitars) on bass. 'Rose Room' launched their debut album 'Somewhere In Roseland' this year in Glasgow's City Halls and recently appeared on BBC Radio Scotland's The Jazz House.
