Bio
Fueled by a passion for sunshine, surf, yoga, and helping people achieve their dreams, Chad Scott, has developed some of the best in "Feel Good Music," available today. Highly energetic, happy and infectious, yet surprisingly sophisticated, Chad's music has been compared to the likes of Billy Joel, Bare Naked Ladies, Steely Dan, Eric Clapton, Seal, 311, Maroon 5 and Jamiroquoi. Unlike most musicians who get started at an early age, Chad spent most of his youth participating in high adrenaline sports and high finance never picking up a guitar or singing a note until his mid 20's. While on a surf retreat he was introduced to the acoustic guitar and had a life changing experience, moving to Los Angeles shortly thereafter to study and devote his life to music. As he says, "The light bulb just went on and I knew from the first chord I played that this is what I was meant to do. I couldn't have done this any earlier either, I just didn't have the patience." -

Shaka Buku is the ultimate Feel Good Music. Led by singer/songwriter Chad Scott, from San Diego & Los Angeles California, Shaka Buku blends a seamless groove of reggae, funk, soul, pop, and rock, to create rich, full-bodied music with unforgettable melodies and infectious grooves that almost inevitably leaves crowds demanding more.
Influenced mostly by reggae and funk greats like Bob Marley and Stevie Wonder, Shaka Buku moves audiences to sing and dance with its mix of punchy horns, funky guitars, luscious keyboards, deep bass and lyrics that speak to the masses. sb logo1 Press
Shaka Buku began its journey in 2003 with its first album “Good Vibrations,” a self produced reggae pop funk album which created a respectable buzz in Los Angles. After much growth and teaming up with bass player/producer Pancho Tomaselli (War), guitar player/producer JB Eckl (Santana, War) and keyboard player/producer Sebastian Arocha Morton (Sting, Seal, Nelly Furtado) Shaka Buku put out “Reggae Rock Hop” in 2005, which sold over 5,000 copies and was featured on MTV networks, O2 Network and several other television specials.
After a move to San Diego in 2005 Chad felt it was time to step it up to create something timeless in the vein of his idols Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley. The result was “Feel Different,” Shaka Buku’s third album, which was created over a 5-year period of consistent live performance in San Diego as well as tours throughout the Western United States. The experience and life challenges to survive as an artist gave Chad a respectable depth of experience and wisdom from which to write about. This new album had contributions from the same three musician producers from his last album and for the first time Chad had reached out for the help of a top producer. As co-producer, JB Eckl, a master producer, guitarist, songwriter with big time credits like Santana and a genius touch, pushed Chad to a the next level of excellence and created what many have called a “timeless piece of art.”
. Currently Shaka Buku is promoting “Feel Different” through the “Three Waves A Day” tour, which supports and celebrates Yoga, Music and Surf. As a yoga teacher, surfer and musician for over 10 years Chad wanted to expand beyond the bounds of music as medium for partying and created an event that promoted music as a vehicle to promote a healthy lifestyle to youth. The result is an unforgettable tour now drawing crowds of 200-500 with the support of local yoga studios, surf vendors, and musicians along the West Coast.
