The best music builds, pulling you on a journey into a web created by musicians who seem as one being. With such precision and power, that you wonder if these men are puppets of the Rock Gods?
Stone Soul Foundation is one of those bands. With an unmistakable groove that is created by a cocktail of genres. It is a union of Blues and good ‘ole raunchy American Rock and Roll. Your mind is pulled away from your internal conflicts into a rolling ocean created by the 5 very talented Musicians. Channeling the roots of blues, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and soulful hard hitting Rock and
    Roll.
“Close your eyes and take a journey through space. Look upon the Universe without a face” (“Now” from Into the Flames)

Hailing from Auburn, New York, this collaboration of musical mad scientists formed in 2002. They are influenced by Stone Temple Pilots, the Foo Fighters, Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and 80’s Metal. They create a world of their own, while instilling the elements of the different genres. The band is led by Sean Muldoon’s soulfully melodic yet raunchy vocals. Guitar riffs reminiscent of B.B. King and Metallica are pumped out the dual guitars of Jeff Wiggins and Dan Dennis. A funky under current is created
by Doug Paradise, the bands low end maestro, and the hard hitting drum solos and fills are created by Shane Stillman.

The band has recorded 3 records on their own. Two EPs, the first being Scenic Route (2003), followed by…3 to Get Ready (2004). Then Into the Flames, released in 2006, was their first official full length record, winning them the Sammy Award for Best Rock album in the same year. For those of you not familiar with the SAMMYs, they are Syracuse Area Music awards that are usually held during the Taste of Syracuse each June. The album is described by CdBaby.com as, “...Powerful high energy retro flavored modern blues rock with heavy blues driven groovie guitars, a rhythm section that makes one wonder if they want to dance, kill or f@#k and a vocalist soulfully singing and shouting like a crazed preacher”.
Stone Soul Foundation is one of the first bands I ever saw; I was only about 14 or
15 years old. I remember the awe inspired feeling I felt and still feel to this day when I see them. Truly, when you hear them for the first time, you do not know what to do. Such a multi-faceted world is created when they start to spin their musical web. All you can do is enjoy the ride, absorbing it as it comes. It makes you wanna move, then it makes you wanna get wasted, then you ponder things of a philosophical nature and when the music turns and gets heavy you wanna pick up the nearest bar stool and hurl it across the room.
They are one of the few bands that can play to many demographics and the audience will always take something away.
Note: Check back next issue for Sam’s interview with the band!

Binghamton's Voodoo Lounge keeps easing the pain of losing Magic City Music Hall.

When the Rockademia Tour hits the Lounge stage Saturday, it'llspotlight a quintet of fast-rising Southern Tier bands - hailing fromBinghamton to Auburn - that'll certify regional rock/metal alive andwell.

Pick your headliner. There's Ithaca's Ayurveda, GreaterBinghamton's Try.Fail.Repeat., Corning-Ithaca's Armageddon Monks andSelf Made Self, and Auburn's Stone Soul Foundation.

The tourunites "pretty much the cream of the crop in unsigned hard rock forcentral New York," said TFR singer Mike Hunter. "It's a fairly unusualthing for rock bands to band together like this on their own, but themusic industry is pretty tough these days, so we figured we stood abetter chance if we stuck together."

After a pair ofStaind-echoing EPs, TFR's closing in on a new studio outing - as isAyurveda, with plans to package more of their spiritual alloy on discamid "hectic" touring.

Self Made Self's new CD,a concept album, will be out by the fall. The metal-crunching Monks areworking on a "two-fer" - one acoustic, one plugged in. And Stone SoulFoundation also has a disc in the pipeline.

All that new workoffers an extra draw for the fan bases Saturday. And for newbies, thebands' standards are reason enough to not be late.

Here's a Little Info About The Tour.........

With increasing pressure on major labels to minimize losses and maximize profitability, mainstream music has lost much of its edge and appeal to active listeners.  The rock genre in particular has suffered from a lack of new blood due to the industry’s reluctance to invest in undiscovered talent.

But there is still a considerable audience out there, hungry as ever for just a taste of the energy that only pure, undiluted rock music can provide.

Rockademia satisfies that hunger by taking the best underground rock bands in central NY and bringing them straight to your campus, hassle-free.  We’ll supply full production with sound and lights, along with your choice of three to five bands, to give you a complete concert package at a fraction of the cost you’d pay for even minor national acts.  We’ll also work with your campus and local media to get the word out and help ensure that the show is a success.

College students are always eager to discover new music that exists outside the mainstream.  Now your students can experience firsthand the energy and conviction of true musicians who live and breathe their art every day.  Welcome to Rockademia!
