PTH Biography

The Part Time Heroes are two undisclosed young musicians currently residing in the leafy suburbs of Southampton. Although their names are not known to the masses, their music soon will be, as this part-time shop assistant and part-time sandwich deliveryman, plan to convert their part-time music careers into full-time employment.

Both heroes have a deep history in a variety of genres, sharing influences from Miles Davis to John Martyn to The Clash, and both now share the same landlord. For various reasons the duo found themselves sharing a flat together at the turn of 2005 and after many late night conversations, lengthy musical debates and story-telling sessions, the duo that had now become good friends decided it was only right to combine their two studios. The short move from each others respected bedrooms to the lounge took place and a new production partnership was born. It was quick, natural and felt right and the next ten months have taken them to the brink of breaking through.

Having drawn comparisons to Portishead, St.Germain and even Groove Armada, there is no question that the Heroes debut album (soon to arrive) is an exciting, eclectic and fresh journey over different tempos, incorporating live instrumentation, deep jazz roots and organic soul nourishing goodness.

April 2005 saw the duo invite a selection of close friends/local accomplished musicians to their front room to bring that live touch to their recordings. Live drums, flute, keys, double bass and horn section were thrown into the mix and over the coming months vocalists including new-comers Jono McCleery, Lucy Kitchen and Laura Vane would drop by to indulge in late night song writing sessions and recording.
