Tommi Nickolz is born and raised in Chicago, the West side of the city. Tha part of town he's from sometimes is called "tha hood of death". Drugs, murderers, gangs, police brutality, stick up men and drug addicts are some of the things he sees everyday. Raised majorily by his grandmother who he says is his reason for tryin' 2 live a dream. Tommi's father was never, ever around. "I remember when I was like 6 or 7, I was with my mother and he road by me and I screamed, "daddy, daddy" and he looked me in my face and kept going. Next time I saw him and actually talked to him was at my mother's funeral." Tommi is a father who is tryin' his best to be around for his children. "My relationship with my children's mothers are good, except for the first and it's affecting my son, and I see it. My girls and me are good. They all know I love them, everything I do is for them." Tommi's mother passed away recently as they were beginning to become tight, it was hard at first. "My mother was beautiful so she had guys wanting her, she rarely had time for me, but towards the end she was trying very hard to make up for lost time. I have nothing bad to say about her, I loved her dearly." Tommi's music is never one way. He's capable of makin' you wanna thug, then think, then cry and then dance. You never know what you'll get with him. "I've been to about 4 or 5 funerals in a matter of weeks, yet one of my best homies just had a beautiful son. A year ago one of my best homies, spiritual advisor, and DJ/engineer was killed tryin' to break up a fight, but he made four beautiful children that will contribute to this world in a major way. It doesn't seem like it all the time but things have a way of balancing out, nobody said we were going to like it."
