We have to be honest.  It has been, at times, hard for us to picture Chris Evans.  In our defense, he has kind of an ‘everyman’ look to him, doesn’t he?  And it doesn’t help matters much that his name is Chris Evans — we wish he’d throw in a middle initial or something to give the whole image a little character.  But alas, we digress, our purpose here today is to look back at where he’s been so that we can get even more excited about where he’s about to be — in The Avengers this weekend as Captain America!

Chris Evans was born in Boston, Massachusetts. His mother is an artistic director at the Concord Youth Theater and his father is a dentist. He has three siblings — two sisters and a brother. Scott, the brother, is also an actor and was featured on One Life to Live.

When Chris was in first grade, his sister began performing in school plays. Chris soon followed suit. Apparently, he is now quite embarrassed by photos from that period in his life.

After high school, Chris moved to New York to attend the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute. While there, he began interning at a casting office. Through the internship, he befriended several agents, one of whom would eventually represent him.  Smart cookie, this one!

His first onscreen roles were of the TV variety — he had recurring parts on the shows Opposite Sex, The Fugitive, and Boston Public.

It wasn’t until his lead role in 2001’s Not Another Teen Movie, however, that he really caught the public’s attention.

Not Another Teen Movie’s success led to roles in films like A Perfect Score, Cellular, Fantastic Four, The Nanny Diaries — the list goes on and on. These days, with films like The Avengers to boast of, there’s no denying the fact that Chris is A-list all the way.
