We’re not some sort of prude or anything. But is it just us or is music becoming more sexed up these days than ever before? And if you needed any proof that the music industry has gone the way of the booty, than you need to look no further than a new crop of songs that were released this week. Let’s examine a few choice selections evidencing music’s journey between the sheets..
Big Boi & Theophilus London feat Tre Luce – “She Said OK”
.
Outkast, and Big Boi in particular, have never shied away from jams honoring the sexual side of life (see: “I Like The Way You Move It”). But on the Outkast MC’s latest joint, for which he teams up with Brooklyn hipster rapper Theophilus London and crooner Tre Luce, he gets downright explicit. The chorus: “Let me see your titties/ She said OK/ Let me see your pussy/ She said OK.” Yah…. Theophilus talks about touching on nipples while Big Boi talks about a hairy bush. It’s some vulgar shiz, people! Check it out below.

.Blood Diamonds feat Grimes – “Phone Sex”
.
Of course, not all artists take the overtly explicit route when expressing sexual desires and/or angst. Take the new song, “Phone Sex,” from LA pop artist Blood Diamonds, who teams up with Montrael’s Grimes for this luscious, “come-get-me-daddy” soundscape-of-a-track. On it, Grimes, a.k.a Claire Boucher, cries out for the gentle (or not?!) touch from her male counterpart. “Please daddy take me home/ Hey daddy hey daddy it’s too soon.” There’s some mixed messages here, but judging from the title, and Grimes longing vocal intonation, it’s hard to mistake the underlying message here: Let’s get freaky!

.The Darkness – “Every Inch of You”
.
It doesn’t take a genius to pick up on the sexual innuendo that this London cock-rock crew were putting out there via the song title for their latest single, “Every Inch of You.” But as if that wasn’t sexual enough, they took it up another notch with its lyric video. Wasting little time, the band employs the services of a lovely lady to strip down to next to nothing. The only purpose of this sexual act seems to be to entice the viewer to actually listen to the mediocre song. Yes, this is pretty tame compared to what the Internet offers these days. But nonetheless, it’s just another example of an industry going full force on the skin-selling front.

So either it’s spring/summer time and it’s in our genetic makeup to want to mate this time of year…or these artist are feeling frisky in their own right…or they’re using the tired old ’sex sells’ strategy with their music. What do you think?
