Jana Kramer is perhaps best known for her role on One Tree Hill, but the actress, who has appeared in numerous movies and TV shows, also has an ear for music. In fact, the musician just released her self-titled debut album via Elektra Nashville. So far, it’s been nearly as big of hit as her TV gigs.

Kramer, born and raised in Detroit, started acting in 2002, kicking off her career with roles on shows like All My Children and CSI. The actress scored recurring roles on Friday Night Lights and 90201 before she landed the role of Alex Dupre on One Tree Hill. Kramer also notably appeared in the movies Prom Night and Click.

The actress and singer officially inked her record label contract last February, launching her solo music career with a track called “I Won’t Give Up,” which debuted on One Tree Hill. The track reached No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100 and revealed to fans that Kramer could do more than just act. Kramer officially left One Tree Hill as a regular before its final season to pursue her music career full-time.

The singer started working on her debut album last year with country music producer Scott Hendricks, who produced most of the album. The disc’s first single, “Why Ya Wanna,” was released in January, with an accompanying music video in February. The album itself finally was released on June 5.

Kramer recently told The Boot of her success as a musician, “It’s unbelievable. It really is. The fact that I’m being embraced the way that I am, it’s a great feeling. I’m just riding the wave right now.” As for leaving One Tree Hill? She said, “It’s like, ‘You know what? You did the right thing.’ I know I’m going to have bad days and songs that won’t do as well maybe, but I’m going to keep working hard, and I’m not going to give up.”
