This should make some fans happy: Adam Lambert is reportedly in talks to be a judge on the next season of American Idol. The singer, who was a runner up on the show’s eighth season, hasn’t agreed to anything yet but has responded to rumors that he is in discussions for Idol’s upcoming 12th season.
    .

A source told E! News, “They have been talking about Adam for over a month. He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start. He knows what it’s like to be on the receiving end of the judges’ comments, he has a human touch, and they know they can’t go wrong if they bring him on. He would be able to bring a unique perspective to the show. People love him.”
    .

The current judging panel is made up of Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez so we’d personally be thrilled to see a younger, hipper musician offering their say on the show. As of now the trio has yet to sign on officially for the next season, which means there may, in fact, be some opening spots. Lopez even recently told reporters, “I don’t know if I can go for a third year. I miss doing other things.” But is Lambert really in discussion with Idol?
    .

The singer released a statement today that said, Idol has an amazing history of introducing great musical talent, and I was very fortunate to have had the Idol stage play a big part in my career. IF Idol wants to talk to me about Judging, I’d be more than flattered to have that conversation.”
    .

That’s a pretty cagey response, but our fingers are still crossed. After all the rumors about Britney Spears and The X Factor turned out to be true. Do you think Lambert would be a good choice to judge Idol? Tell us in the comments.
