If you haven’t heard of The Host, you’re in for a look at the upcoming film by Stephanie Meyer. Initially, her name will draw tons of interest from the fans of The Twilight Saga, but it has nothing to do with vampires or werewolves. Even humans have a somewhat diminished role in this film. You see, this story takes place in the future, where mankind is almost extinct, having been taken over by an alien race.

Saoirse Ronan (Atonement, Hanna) stars in the newest vampire movie on the block, Neil Jordan’s Byzantium. In this first clip from Empire, it’s made explicitly clear that this is not a lovey-dovey Twilight style vampire movie – this one has serious stakes, and some pretty disgusting consequences. But hey – Ronan stars in Stephenie Meyer’s upcoming The Host, so maybe the two talked about vampires a little bit behind the scenes here. Check out the clip below to see Saoirse seeing red.
