G's To Gents
,Growing up in a wild and crazy neighborhood in the Bronx gave native Puerto Rican Zenel a tough outer shell. As far as he's concerned, a real G is king of the block, possessing both street smarts and leadership skills. Zenel thinks he's got plenty of both -- and plumbing skills to boot! As a working model, Zenel has the trendsetting aspect of G-hood on lockdown. Now he needs to translate his confidence on the runway into gentlemanly prowess so he can triumph on From G's to Gents. Will he be able to break free of his rough ways and embrace his inner nobleman?
Fourteen young G's gather outside a Gentleman's Club in L.A., and aside from their wife beaters, baggy jeans, doo rags, and metal grills, they all have one thing in common: a desire to leave their gangster ways behind them and change their lives. They want to get off the streets and become better men by changing their walk, their talk, and their style; and for those G's who will be strong enough to change, the opportunity of a lifetime awaits them. The G's are first greeted by Frederick, the club butler, who will be guiding them through their time at the club. Frederick then presents the gentleman himself, Fonzworth Bentley, an international fashion artist and accomplished author and artist who will be leading these gangsters as they undergo the ultimate transformation from G's to Gents. Mr. Bentley has worked with P. Diddy, Outkast, and Kanye West, but this looks to be his toughest job yet. Fonzworth addresses the men and tells them that the winner of the competition, who exhibits the tenacity and forthrightness to get through this and become a distinguished gentleman, will go home with $100,000. As Fonzworth retires to his studio, the G's follow Frederick to their suite and immediately hit the bar and start poppin' bottles. Some hit the bottle a little too hard, especially Pretty Ricky who, not thinking of what may be to come, gets completely sloshed. Frederick crashes their party and leads them all into the chapter room where Mr. Bentley introduces the thugs to two important traditions at the club. Each G must step forward and introduce himself to Fonzworth before his assistant, Rachel, hands them each a navy blazer which represents their pledgeship to the club. After the formal introductions, Fonzworth feels as if he has just stepped into Thugs-R-Us, and he is particularly unimpressed by Pretty Ricky who is a drunken mess -looks like Pretty Ricky should be renamed Pretty Tipsy. Next, Fonzworth teaches the guys about the black ball tradition: at the beginning of each elimination round, each contestant will get a chance to black ball the person they think does not represent the Club and should go home. So with enough formality for one day, Fonzworth leaves the G's to chill with each other and form their own first impressions of each other. These first impressions will be particularly important because by the end of the night, two G's will be sent home and lose their chance at becoming a distinguished gentleman. Over food and drinks by the club pool the madness begins. Already in fear of being black balled, Cee starts building up alliances with the other G's, but Kesan won't give in to this con artist's scheme. Pretty Ricky continues to slug 'em back until he has to go to the bathroom so badly, he takes a leak in the garden-and even these thugs aren't impressed. The Truth likes to run his mouth just as much as Pretty Ricky likes to drink and will instigate any argument, especially with E6. Kesan has made up his mind that, come elimination, he is going to black ball The Truth. E6 wants to take it one step further that Kesan and start an alliance to get The Truth kicked out. While the party continues to go on outside, Fonzworth meets with the G's in small groups in his brandy room so he can get an idea of their goals and intentions for coming to the Gentleman's Club. Pretty Ricky can barely speak coherent sentences, Zenel tells Fonzworht it's all about becoming a millionaire by the age of 30, Stan talks about his stripping job for the past five years, and Creepa even falls asleep. On the other hand, some G's look like they are already heading in the right direction; Kesan and Shaun want the money to help their families and Shotta, who lives homeless in his Mercedes, wants to be the father for his son that he never had. Fonzworth sees the potential in some of these G's and is determined to drag it out of them. The party is over, and all the G's meet in the brandy room to do their black ball voting. Pretty Ricky knows he has been taking the fall from the beginning, but he is happy that at least now The Truth is going down with him. After casting their votes, they go to the elimination room where they see how everyone weighed in. The Truth got 5 black balls, Little Ricky got 7, and both Creepa and E6 got 1. The Truth is still convinced he is the #1 G in the house no matter what happens, Little Ricky thinks people are just jealous and hatin' on him, and when Creepa wants the G who voted for him to reveal himself, Zenel, the true culprit, doesn't man up. Ultimately though, it is up to Fonzworth to make the final decision. Creepa is the first to stay because Fonzworth believes he is really here to make a change-despite falling asleep during their talk. Next, Pretty Ricky gets his membership denied when Fonzworth doesn't approve of the white blazer that Ricky chose to wear over the navy club blazer. It's down to only E6 and The Truth, and with only one spot left, Fonzworth wants to hear about the tension between the two from the group. Shotta speaks for the G's when he tells Fonzworth that The Truth is just poppin' off at the mouth acting like he's bad when he's really not. Fonzworth makes the final decision and sends The Truth home because a real gentleman does not lack respect amongst his peers. The chapter meeting adjourns and the 12 remaining G's go back to their well earned beds. Tomorrow, the real competition is about to begin and with a lot of lessons and challenges ahead of them, Fonzworth hopes these guys know what they are in for.
After surviving the first round of eliminations, the remaining 12 Gs wake up after a long night of partying to begin their first real day in the Gentleman's Club. Things get heated quickly as tension builds in the line for the bathroom when an impatient Kesan insults D-Boy's mom from the other side of the bathroom door. Despite the animosity toward Kesan that is quickly building in D-Boy and the other Gs, D-Boy keeps his cool and refrains from retaliating against him. Just when things are about to get ugly, Frederick comes to present the Gs with "The Daily Gent," a daily publication that explains the activities for the day. This issue announces that, today, the G's will all be putting their sense of style to the test. But first, they are headed to Beverly Hills to learn that there is more to fashion than suspect jewelry and doo-rags. Looking fresh to death in their finest G-wear, the Gs pile into Lincoln Navigators and roll up to Reiss in Beverly Hills where they are met by Mr. Bentley and Marcellus Reynolds, a celebrity stylist and host of "Shop Like a Star." After receiving some helpful hints from the fashion guru himself on how to leave their street style behind, the Gs tackle the essential task of learning how to tie a tie. Mr. Bentley introduces the Gs to "The Dimple," also known as "The Wall Street Cleavage," that they will get with the finished product --he sure knows how to get these guys to pay attention. Back at the Club, D-Boy talks to some of the Gs outside about Kesan's attack at his mother, and he makes it clear that he wants Kesan going home at the next elimination. When Cee hears the guys siding with D-Boy, he is quick to jump on the bandwagon of hate to try and seal Kesan's fate, but more importantly, to secure a safe spot for himself. It's time to see if the Gs were paying attention during their lesson in style as they will all participate in the first ever Gs to Gents fashion show. After introducing the Gs to the guest judge, Ozwald Boateng, a designer and stylist to many suave celebrities, Fonzworth explains the challenge: the Gs will be broken up into three teams, the teams will all have mock invitations to the same three events, and each team must pick one member to model clothes they think would be appropriate to wear to each specific event. Fonzworth then raises the stakes when he tells them that the most appropriately dressed team will not only win the challenge but will also win immunity for the next elimination round. The Gs strut their stuff on the runway, and after three rounds of modeling clothes that they would wear to the opening of a Gentlemen's Country Club, a skybox party at Dodgers Stadium, and a charity even aboard a yacht, Shaun's team, including E6, Stan, and Chotta, wins two of the three rounds and comes out on top. The morning of elimination day, Zenel decides to confess to Creepa about blackballing him last elimination round. Creepa politely --or not so politely- tells Zenel he will gladly return the favor and do the same to him this round. And in a last ditch effort to get Kesan kicked out of the Club, Cee, like the true con-artist that he is, puts an "X" over his own picture in the hallway on the way to the elimination room. While walking past it with a few other Gs, Cee feigns anger and disbelief over the fact that someone would deface his picture like that. When the Gs see Kesan holding a marker, shortly after finding out about the "X," they immediately place blame on him and their animosity toward this "back-stabber" is only increased --just as Cee had hoped. Just before elimination, Mikey P approaches Mr. Bentley to tell him about Kesan's verbal stab at D-Boy. While Fonzworth appreciates Mikey P's snitching, he starts to question hos G status when he leans Mikey P has a motorcycle, a car, and a 4 bedroom house. After the blackball ceremony, the Gs all gather in the chapter room to await their fate. The bottom three this week are Kesan, with 7 votes, and Zenel and Mikey P, each with 2 votes. Fonzworth first denies Mikey P membership to the club because he feels as if other people need it more than he does. Down to Kesan and Zenel, Kesan apologizes to D-Boy and tells Fonzworth that even though there are no excuses for his actions, he wants to be given the chance to still be able to learn to change and control his aggression. Fonzworth makes his final decision and decides to give Kesan a second chance and send Zenel packin'. After issuing a stern warning to Kesan, Fonzworth closes the meeting, and 10 remaining style savvy Gs head back to their suite to get some rest before the long road ahead of them
