Biography

José António is graduated and specialized in Music Education & Performance at Berklee College of Music (Boston, Massachusetts) with Rich Appleman, Danny Morris, Anthony Vitti, Jim Stinnet, Bruce Gertz, Jim Odgren, Edward Tomassi, Roberta Radley, Alizon Lissance and Paul Schmeling, among others.
1988 –J.A began his musical studies, attending private classes of electric bass.
1990 –Joined the Jazz School of Porto; class of electric bass.
1999 –Continued his studies with Professor Philip Sottomayor (electric bass and double bass).
2005 –Joined the band DUST. Played with the bassist Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath) and the drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) at the Hard Club in Oporto. Also played with the UK singer Limahl from the Kajagoogoo in a national TV program.
2006 –The first album of the DUST was released and the band went on tour across the country.
2008 –Completed the class in Speech and Music Education for the elementary school, from the Lancaster College and the General Directorate of Labour and Employment Relations.
2009 –Participated alongside the band Vozes da Rádio in the artistic music project Stories from the South sponsored by Educational Service's of Casa da Música, Oporto.
2011 –Participated in the clinic /concert from the bass player Stuart Hamm who played with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, at the Berklee College of Music, also played with the band Mr. Big at the Hard Club in Oporto.
